First Things First: Know Your Email Address
Your UofL email is your digital identity. It usually looks like this:
yourusername@louisville.edu
You’ll use this for all university messages — from class updates to awesome campus events (and free pizza alerts?).
Accessing UofL Email on Desktop
If you’ve got a laptop or a desktop, opening your email is smooth and fast.
Option 1: Use a Web Browser
- Open your favorite browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari — anything works).
- Go to https://outlook.office365.com
- Enter your UofL email and password.
- Click Sign In, and voilà — you’re in!
Tip: Bookmark the Outlook login page so you can open your inbox in one click next time.
Option 2: Use the Outlook App
Follow these simple steps to use the Microsoft Outlook desktop app (if you have it installed):
- Open the Outlook app on your computer.
- Click File at the top left.
- Then click Add Account.
- Enter your UofL email address and click Connect.
- Enter your password when prompted, then click Sign In.
The app may take a minute to load everything the first time. Be patient — email gold is coming.
Accessing UofL Email on Your Phone
You’re busy. You’re on the move. You’ve got a phone. Perfect.
Option 1: Use the Outlook Mobile App
This is the best way to access your UofL email on both iOS and Android.
Here’s how to set it up:
- Go to the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android).
- Search for Outlook and download the Microsoft Outlook app.
- Open the app after installation finishes.
- Tap Add Account.
- Type in your university email address.
- Enter your password and tap Sign In.
Congrats! You’re now connected. Emails, calendar invites, and UofL notices on the go!

Option 2: Add to Native Mail App
If you prefer the built-in mail app on your phone, no problem. You can still check your UofL inbox. Let’s walk through it.
For iPhone (Apple Mail App)
- Open your Settings app.
- Tap Mail, then Accounts.
- Select Add Account and choose Microsoft Exchange.
- Enter your UofL email address.
- Tap Next, then enter your password if asked.
- Choose what you want to sync — Mail, Contacts, Calendar — then tap Save.
For Android (Gmail or Mail App)
- Open the Gmail app or your default email app.
- Go to Settings and tap Add Account.
- Select Exchange or Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
- Enter your university email and password.
- Tap Manual Setup if prompted, then enter the server as:
Server: outlook.office365.com
- Save the settings and choose your sync preferences.
And just like that, you’re mobile-email-ready!
What If You Forgot Your Password?
Oops — it happens. Don’t panic. Just reset it through the UofL password portal.
- Go to https://password.louisville.edu
- Click on Forgot Password.
- Follow the prompts to reset.
Try to use a password that’s easy for you but tricky for cybervillains.
